Fresh Lima Beans in Thyme
Put the
water, salt, sugar, thyme, and butter in a 2-quart covered saucepan.
Bring to a boil and add the lima beans. Cover and reduce heat to medium.
boil approx. 6 minutes until tender. Place in heated dish and top with Browned Butter.
Note: If you love the taste of thyme, chop it fine and add to the
lima beans. If you only want the flavor, do not chop it, but add the
sprigs to the boiling beans and remove before serving.
Browned Butter:
Melt the butter in a large pan over medium-low heat. After it
has melted, stir occasionally until the butter begins to brown. Be sure
to remove from the heat before it burns, or it will lose its flavor. It
should be a rich nut-brown color.

1/2 cup water
1 t. salt
1/2 t. sugar
1 T. fresh or 1/3 t. dried thyme
1 T. butter
1 T. Browned Butter
