German Cabbage Soup

  In large saucepan combine all ingredients except apples, cabbage, onions and spices. Bring to a boil. Add spices, apples, and vegetables. Cover and simmer 30 minutes or until cabbage is tender. Serves 6-8. 2 cans (10½ oz, ea,)
2½ c. water
2 tsp. lemon juice
2 c. diced apples
1 Tbsp. caraway seed
1/4 tsp. garlic powder or 1 fresh clove crushed garlic
1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
3 c. shredded cabbage
1/3 c. sliced onions
1 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. black pepper
