Country Cabbage Chowder

Cut or shred cabbage coarsely. Place vegetables, seasonings and water in a large pot and cook until tender. Add the scalded milk and butter. Serve with cornbread or crackers

4 cups cabbage
2 cups sliced carrots
3 cups diced potatoes
3 cups water
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 cups scalded milk
2 tsp. butter
