Fry Pies

Roll out dough very thin. If you don't have a fry pie maker, use the lid of a Lifetime coffee pot for a cutter. Put a spoonful of pie filling on the cut out circles; wet the edges. Fold over to make a half-moon pie. Seal the edges by pressing with a fork. Deep fry in Creamtex or Hyscore shortening. Dip in glaze while pies are still warm . Lay on a rack to dry. (Have your pie filling a little extra thick.)

Dough:
2¼ qt Hylite cake flour
1 Tbsp. salt
2 cups water
3 cups Creamtex or Hyscore shortening

Glaze:
2 lb. powdered sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
water as needed
