Hamburger Pickles
1 gal.
cucumbers, sliced thin. Soak 3-5 days in salt brine. 1 c. salt to 1 gal.
hot water. After 3-5 days, drain and wash in clear water about 4 times.
Be sure to get all the salt off. Boil in alum water for 10 minutes, 2 T.
alum and water to cover pickles. Rinse again in hot water.
Put bag in syrup and cook until clear, about 20 minutes. Put
pickles in jar, add syrup and seal.

Syrup:
2 c. vinegar
2 c. water
6 c. sugar
Put in bag:
1 T. celery seed
1 stick cinnamon
1 T. whole cloves
1 T. mixed pickling spice
