Orange Nut Bread
Combine orange rind, water, salt and sugar and boil for 10 minutes. Cool.
Add milk to orange juice, then add cooled mixture. Sift flours with baking
powder and soda. Cut in shortening until mixture is like meal. Pour
liquids into dry ingredients and stir vigorously until well mixed. Add
nuts and blend. Bake in loaf pan in a 350° F. oven for 50 to 60 minutes.
rind of one orange, grated
1/2 c. water
1 tsp salt
1/2 c. sugar
juice of one orange
enough milk added to orange juice to make one cup
1 egg, beaten
1 c. sifted flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. soda
1/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. chopped nuts
