Recipe Mile-High Biscuits Amish Cooking Food Recipes

Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Add beaten egg to milk. Add liquid to dry ingredients and mix with fork until dough holds together. Knead lightly. Roll to 1 thick and cut. Use only enough flour to handle dough easily. Bake at 450° F. for 12 minutes or until brown.

Yields 24 biscuits.

3 c. sifted flour
3/4 t. cream of tartar
3/4 t. salt
1 egg, lightly beaten
4½ t. baking powder
2½ T. sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. milk
