Cloud Biscuits
Mix flour,
sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening with fork or pastry
blender. Stir in the egg and milk, mixing thoroughly. Knead lightly on a
floured surface and pat or roll to about 3/4 " thick. Cut in
desired shapes and place on un-greased baking sheet. Dip small sugar
cubes in orange juice and press lightly into top of each biscuit. Bake in a preheated
400° F. oven for 12 to 14 minutes,
or until lightly browned. Serve Warm.

1 T. sugar
4 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg, lightly beaten
2/3 c. milk (buttermilk is best)
16 sugar cubes (optional)
1/4 c. orange juice (optional)
