Chocolate Town Special Cake
oven to 350° F. Grease and flour pan. Cream sugar and lard together
until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each
addition, add vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt and add
alternately with the buttermilk. Make heavy, smooth paste of the cocoa
and boiling water, cool slightly, add and blend well. Pour into prepared
pans and bake for about 35 minutes or until done.
1¾ cups sugar
2/3 cup lard
1 teaspoon vanilla
2½ cups flour
1½ teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup Hershey's cocoa
1/2 cup boiling water
